Yeelight smart bulbs enable you to sync your digital lifestyle and have fun with your home lighting. Create personalised scenes with photos, sync your lights with music, automate mood lighting and control your lights from anywhere.
Yeelight smart bulbs have a distinct design, distinguishable by the crisscrossed lines that form a diamond-shaped pattern on the neck. As part of the Xiaomi Smart Home ecosystem, you need to install either the Mi Home or Yeelight app on your mobile handset or tablet. But that’s straight-forward enough. Once installed you have the option to create settings for your entire house including desk lights and corner lamps.
No hub is required to use Yeelight bulbs. They are WiFi-enabled. You can pair them with either Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple Homekit though. Not many other budget-friendly smart bulbs are compatible with Apple.
With 16 million colours, the choice of light settings is endless. And Yeelight is much brighter than the competition. You can customise a multitude of ambient settings to suit whatever you are doing or the time of day, and even engage additional light effects including colour temperatures, filter photos through your lights and sync your lighting to music.
The Yeelight smart LED bulb was awarded the PCMag Editor’s Choice on the grounds that it works with all three leading voice assistants as opposed to Alexa and Google Assistant like most other budget smart bulbs. That’s fine for Apple users but for everybody else, Wyze and Sengled represent cost-efficient alternatives - unless you want a choice of 16 million colours, lights that dance to your music and project your photos. To be fair, these are pretty cool features!
